Alabama linebacker Tim Williams was arrested early Thursday morning. He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, first reported by Tidesports.com. Williams was released on a $300 bond.
The arrest happened in the parking lot of the Tuscaloosa Publix at approximately 2:00 a.m., according to a report by AL.com. Here are additional details on the arrest:
Police officers were doing a normal patrol when they smelled marijuana coming from Williams’ vehicle, according to sources. A passenger, who was not an Alabama football player, said the marijuana was his, but the officer then found the pistol under Williams’ seat while searching the car, according to sources.
Obviously, this is big news for an Alabama team that is rolling right now and ranked No. 1 in the country, and Williams is arguably the biggest difference-maker on the Crimson Tide’s defensive unit.
Through four games this season, Williams has recorded six tackles, 1.5 sacks, three quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.
