Our CFB Conference Championship Picks
Andrew Olson
Bert Auburn, Texas K: Higher than 6.5 kick points
Entering the game, the Georgia defense posts one of the SEC’s highest red-zone field-goal percentages (32.43%) for the season. Based on projected team totals, 7 kicking points for Auburn is an appealing individual number.
Drew Allar, Penn State QB: Lower than 201.5 passing yards
Oregon enters as one of the top Big Ten passing defenses in conference competition, allowing 173.8 yards per game (No. 3) on 6.2 yards per attempt (No. 4). In 2 games against ranked opponents, Allar managed just 281 combined passing yards (140.5 per game). I like Dan Lanning’s Ducks to contain the PSU passing attack.
Adam Spencer
Cam Skattebo, Arizona State RB: Lower than 160.5 rush+receiving yards
Skattebo is putting up absolutely insane numbers for the Sun Devils, but now he has to face a tough Iowa State defense. The Cyclones have the best scoring defense in the Big 12 and they know they need to shut down Skattebo to lock up a Playoff berth. I think Skattebo will have plenty of moments, but this is a massive number.
Phil Mafah, Clemson RB: Lower than 83.5 rush yards
The Clemson offensive line has been struggling a bit lately. Mafah’s numbers have dipped accordingly. He has posted 17, 14 and 66 rush yards in his last 3 outings. The SMU defense is solid, so I expect Mafah’s struggles to continue on Saturday night.
Our Week 14 NFL Picks
Andrew Olson
Calvin Ridley, Tennessee Titans WR: Higher than 62.5 receiving yards
In Week 13, Ridley had his least productive outing (7 catches, 45 yards) since the departure of DeAndre Hopkins. Sunday sets up well for a bounce-back game for a couple of reasons. He gets face to Jacksonville, his former team, giving him the revenge-game X-factor. The Jaguars also happen to be pretty bad at everything this season, and that includes passing defense.
Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles RB: Higher than 113.5 rush yards
It’s understandable to be hesitant about picking “higher” on a triple-digit rushing total, but this matchup is too good to pass up. Barkley, the No. 1 fantasy running back for 2024, gets to face a Carolina Panthers defense that ranks worst in the NFL against the run, allowing 166.8 yards per game on the ground. It should be a fun day for Barkley backers.
Adam Spencer
Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings WR: Higher than 85.5 receiving yards
The Falcons’ pass rush has been improving in recent weeks, but it’s still not great. That means QB Sam Darnold will have time to stand in the pocket. And if you give Jefferson time, he’s going to get open. I like him to have a big game, potentially eclipsing the 100-yard mark.
Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints RB: Higher than 37.5 receiving yards
Kamara gets to face a bad New York Giants defense. This is a team that is shooting for the No. 1 overall pick, so they don’t have much incentive to stop Kamara. He should be good for a handful of catches, including 1 or 2 that go for some big yards.
