DK Metcalf has been added to a flurry of major NFL moves made this weekend, according to a report from Adam Schefter, ESPN’s NFL insider.
According to Schefter’s report, the former Ole Miss star and 2-time Pro Bowler has been traded by the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The move gives the Seahawks a fresh reset offensively after releasing fellow receiver Tyler Lockett and trading starting quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to joint reporting by Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Metcalf lands with the Steelers for a 2nd-round pick in this year’s draft going back to the Seahawks. Metcalf is reportedly getting a new contract with the Steelers as well.
At the time of the trade, Metcalf had one year remaining on his contract, but he is reportedly signing a 4-year extension worth $132 million. That deal puts Metcalf in the stratosphere of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL.

Reports of Metcalf requesting a trade surfaced this week, and a later one pointed to the seriousness of the request. After Smith was traded to the Raiders, it was reported that the Seahawks originally offered Metcalf and Smith as a package deal for star pass rusher Maxx Crosby but Las Vegas wasn’t interested.
Instead, the deal for Smith alone eventually went through, and Seattle has now found the trade Metcalf was after. It also opens the door for Jaxon Smith-Njigba to further step into a featured role in Seattle as the Seahawks look to rebuild through the draft.
