It was one of those moments at the Liberty Bowl on Saturday afternoon that no football fan ever wants to see.
Arkansas WR Dominique Reed had to be carted from the field on a stretcher following a blow to the head during the second quarter of Arkansas’ bowl matchup with Kansas State on Saturday.
Here’s a link to the hit if you’d like to see it.
ESPN’s Dawn Davenport reported from the sideline that Arkansas coach Bret Bielema told his team that Reed was awake, and Davenport said she could see him moving fingers. All good signs.
Moments after he left the field, Davenport reported that he was alert and gave a smile before being transported to the local hospital. She said they are calling his injury a neck injury at this point.
Our thoughts are with Reed and the Arkansas football program at this time.
