Doug Gottlieb takes shot at Stetson Bennett, draws ire of Dawg fans

Doug Gottlieb was up late on Friday night with the Heisman Trophy on his mind, and decided to take a shot at Stetson Bennett with a tweet at 2 a.m. ET.

“Remember that time when you thought Stetson Bennet was the best college football player in America? Neither do I.”

Plenty of Georgia fans, and Bennett supporters, took issue with Gottlieb’s opinion, and pointed out all the reasons he was wrong, and that Bennett is plenty deserving to be in New York.

One fan pointed out that Bennett outplayed Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker head to head, and another added Gottlieb to their prayer list. Others suggested Bennett fits the definition of the Heisman as outlined by the award.

They haven’t announced the winner yet, the voters may not think he is the best either.
Besides, read the criteria for the HT. Nowhere does it say the best player. And if it did, many,many,many times the best didn’t win it. In fact I would say almost every time.

The fact that he didn’t even play the 2nd half of 6 of the 12 games this year and still put up those numbers. Lord help us if he was allowed to play the full games of those 6. It wouldn’t be close at all
