Doug Marrone back to the NFL? Report suggests he’ll reunite with new NFL head coach

Doug Marrone appears to be returning to the NFL after the former NFL head coach served as Alabama’s offensive line coach during the 2021 season.
Marrone was reportedly replaced by Kentucky offensive line coach Eric Wolford, and now a report from Mike Rodak of AL.com charts a destination for Marrone.
“Would not be surprising to see Doug Marrone land with the Denver Broncos, where his former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is now head coach. Hackett served under Marrone at Syracuse, the Bills and the Jaguars.”
Hackett was Jacksonville’s offensive coordinator from 2016-18, and spent the last 3 seasons as Green Bay’s offensive coordinator.
Marrone arrived at Alabama after he spent four-plus seasons as head coach of the Jaguars. The highlight may have been when he led the Jags to the AFC Championship Game at the end of the 2017 season after finishing with a 10-6 record.
Marrone also spent 2 years as the Buffalo Bills head coach from 2013-14, and won 15 games over 2 seasons, including a 9-7 record and a second-place finish in the division.
Alabama has yet to announce any changes to its coaching staff, although Oklahoma announced the hire earlier this month of former Tide cornerbacks coach Jay Valai. The revamped Alabama coaching staff includes special teams coordinator/outside linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler and cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson. All 3, including Wolford, worked under Will Muschamp at South Carolina, with Wolford serving as the Gamecocks’ offensive line coach from 2017 through 2020.
