Dusty Dvoracek knew it was “crazy” from the outset, but explained anyway.
LSU could make it to the national championship this season.
“I think they’ve got a real chance to play for a national championship, Year 2, Brian Kelly, is that crazy,” he said on SiriusXM College. “Jayden Daniels is back, they’ve got a bunch — they didn’t lose many guys at all. They’ve got dudes.”
He then referenced the LSU-Florida State game being “off the charts,” and then opened a discussion about other Year 2 coaches, like Jim Tressel and Bob Stoops, who had this kind of success.
“There’s something interesting about Year 2s and LSU is a team I would say to keep an eye on,” he said.
Our @DustyDvoracek has high expectations for @LSUfootball in Brian Kelly’s second year as Head Coach.

This Year 2 discussion also left out Georgia’s Kirby Smart, who had a berth in the national title game that season. Nick Saban and Ryan Day at Alabama and Ohio State also saw notable improvements in their second season, or first full season.
There’s one thing certain that a returning quarterback with experience goes a long way toward being in the College Football Playoff mix.
