Ed Orgeron credits Tigers OL’s weight loss to slight change in diet

When WWL CBS 4 New Orleans covered 4-star OL Tyler Shelvin’s signing, it was noted that the Tigers wanted to see 330 pounds or less on the lineman’s 6-foot-3 frame. WWL had his weight listed at 365 pounds. Shelvin’s recruiting profile on 247Sports had it as 376 pounds.
According to coach Ed Orgeron, that number is much smaller today, and it’s all because of a simple change to his grandmother’s gumbo.
Orgeron told Tyler Shelvin’s grandma to start feeding him “gumbo without rice” as diet

In addition to X’s and O’s, it appears Orgeron knows all about carbohydrates and weight loss.
Shelvin was rated the No. 52 overall prospect for the class of 2017, No. 4 defensive tackle and No. 1 Louisiana recruit by the 247Sports Composite. Highlights from his heavier days can be viewed below.
