Ed Orgeron has been embattled as the LSU coach this year. Even though it was only 2 years ago that LSU went 15-0 and won a national title, the last 2 years have been rough.
After a 5-5 record in 2020, the Tigers are 4-3 in 2021. It appears even a dramatic win over Florida on Saturday wasn’t enough to save Coach O’s job.
Per Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, Coach O and the Tigers have reached a separation agreement. Orgeron is expected to finish the remainder of this season, but will not return in 2022:
#LSU and Ed Orgeron have reached a separation agreement: He will not return in 2022 but expected to complete this season, sources tell @SINow.
Negotiations began last week before UF win.
It’s unprecedented in the sport – coach & school divorcing 21 months after winning it all.

As Dellenger mentions, negotiations reportedly began last week, meaning the Florida win didn’t factor in.
Coach O currently has an overall record of 49-17 at LSU.
