‘Tis the season for holiday cheer, a mass consumption of food, commercialism at its finest, and a fondness when looking back at wonderful memories.
Some of the most treasured childhood memories include creeping down the stairs on Christmas morning — ready to ravenously unwrap the gifts left by Santa Claus.
As for LSU head coach Ed Orgeron, his favorite Christmas memory occurred when he was about 6 or 7 years old. He delved into this with The Times-Picayune:
“I remember in the front yard, we were singing. . . I think it was 1967. . . I remember that time we were singing ‘When the Saints Go Marching In. The first game, listening on the radio. The next year I got a Saints uniform. It was a big deal. My mom probably has it in the closet somewhere.It had the pads, the Saints helmet. . . the best thing is we played football in the yard all day.”
Orgeron’s mother, Coco, said that her husband found the jersey during a trip to New Orleans. Orgeron wore it so much, that it lost its color .
It started a long tradition in which members of the Orgeron brood played football from morning until night on Christmas Day. This could’ve truly enhanced Orgeron’s love of the game even further.
