As LSU’s season slowly winds down, fans are wondering whether or not they will get to see star running back Leonard Fournette play again in a Tigers uniform.

The junior back is one of the top players in college football, but he has dealt with a lingering ankle injury for most of the 2016 season. On Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference, LSU coach Ed Orgeron provided an update on Fournette’s status.

“He’s day by day, very sore today,” Orgeron said. “It’s been hard on him. He’s tried everything he can. It’s a reoccurring injury that hinders his ability to run.”

Derrius Guice has proven to be a capable replacement in the backfield for Fournette, but the Tigers would love to have their top player available for a tough matchup against Texas A&M.

At this point, that seems to be very much up in the air.
