Former Alabama RB Eddie Lacy has always been on the heavier side when it comes to running backs.
But his size drew some scrutiny during his struggles with the Green Bay Packers during the 2015 NFL season, which ended in January with a playoff loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Following the season, Packers coach Mike McCarthy laid it out there pretty plainly:
“He’s got a lot of work to do,” McCarthy said, via GreenBayPressGazette.com. “I think I’m stating the obvious. His offseason last year was not good enough and he never recovered from it. I had a chance to talk to Eddie today and that was pretty much the majority of our whole conversation. So he has to get it done because he cannot play at the weight that he played at this year.”
Those comments prompted a connection between Lacy and the folks at P90X, and it appears to be a good match so far.

For a point of reference, here’s a picture from Lacy’s Instagram account from last summer:
While Lacy still has a way to go before he reports from training camp, the Packers have to be pleased with the progress they see.
