Ever wonder what college football free agency would look like?

CBS Sports takes a creative glance at how hypothetical college football free agency would shake out with top talent and national contenders with needs. Eight stars from the SEC are listed among the top 25 players available for free agency in this scenario: Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, LSU running back Leonard Fournette, Georgia running back Nick Chubb, Alabama offensive lineman Cam Robinson, Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd, Tennessee defensive end Derek Barnett, Vanderbilt linebacker Zach Cunningham and LSU safety Jamal Adams.

Meanwhile, three SEC squads make the “top teams in the market” list: Alabama, LSU and Tennessee.

As the article mentions, college football has the grad transfer rule in which a player can participate elsewhere immediately. But this hypothetical takes the “free agency” idea a step forward in a different way.

Of course, it’s highly unlikely that free agency as we know it in professional leagues will ever take place in college football. But this is an interesting concept to consider.
