Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers are losing a pair of wide receivers to the NFL in Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr. Therefore, Mizzou needs to replenish its receiving corps ahead of the 2025 season.
The Tigers made a big splash in the transfer portal this week, landing former Mississippi State WR Kevin Coleman Jr. In 2024, Coleman led Mississippi State with 74 catches for 932 yards and 6 touchdowns.
While Mizzou’s QB situation is still up in the air heading into 2025, it does appear that Coleman will be the top receiver in Columbia this coming fall. Eli Drinkwitz is excited to have Coleman on board.
He had plenty of praise for Coleman during his press conference this week (via 247Sports):
We know he’s a dynamic playmaker (with the) ball in his hand. We’re losing a pretty good slot wide receiver that wears No. 3. We just said, ‘Who’s the best No. 3 slot wide receiver we could go get?’ It happened to be Kevin Coleman,” Drinkwitz said. “So, really excited about what his game is and what he’ll bring to our team (in) an explosive nature.
“He’s a genuine young man. I really enjoyed spending time with him and his family when they came on their visit. He is a great young man (with a) great work ethic (and has) got a great competitive spirit and vibe to him.
As of right now, Coleman joins a Mizzou receiving corps that features Marquis Johnson and Mekhi Miller. We’ll see if Drinkwitz and company add any additional players to that room this offseason.
