In need of help in the secondary, Arkansas could soon be getting a big addition from Arizona Western junior college defensive back Keisean Nixon.

Despite a strong 5-3 SEC record in 2015, the Arkansas defense was held back at times last season thanks to a secondary that gave up just over 275 passing yards per game – which ranked the unit dead last in the conference. Now with former Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads joining the staff as defensive backs coach, the next step in fixing the poor pass defense is adding players like Nixon to the roster.

According to a recent interview Nixon gave to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, the Razorbacks look to be in very good shape with nation’s No. 3 JUCO cornerback prospect.

“Cal and Arkansas lead for me,” Nixon said. “They’re recruiting me the hardest.

“I’m loving Arkansas because of the SEC love. And Cal because it’s close to home and I really enjoy the coaches and the way they have handled my recruitment.”

The 6-foot, 200-pound Nixon is rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 4 JUCO recruit from California according to 247Sports. Ironically enough, while Nixon could soon be playing for Rhoads in the Razorback secondary, he also has a scholarship offer from Rhoads’ former school Iowa State, as well.

How quickly can the Hogs defensive backfield go from a weakness to a strength? By the way the team is going, that time could be sooner rather than later.
