Tennessee defensive lineman Emmit Gooden dismissed from team following arrest

The Tennessee Volunteers are down a possible starter before fall camp.
Defensive lineman Emmit Gooden has been dismissed from the program following an arrest for felony aggravated domestic assault, first reported by WBIR Thursday night. The incident happened in the last 24 hours.
According to court records, Gooden got into an argument with a woman and her boyfriend when things turned violent. He then allegedly smashed a glass jar candle into the side of the woman’s head and she needed sutures at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Jeremy Pruitt dismissed Gooden from the team Thursday, and he became the second Vols player to be dismissed this summer. Running back Tim Jordan was the first following his May arrest in Florida.
Although Gooden missed the 2019 season due to an ACL injury, he could have been a starter along the defensive line in 2020. Gooden, Darel Middleton and Aubrey Solomon would have been a strong defensive line unit.
A graduate of the University of Florida and founder of Saturday Down South, Kevin is a college football enthusiast.
