ESPN FPI rankings have been updated following Week 2 action around the college football world. The Football Power Index (FPI) has a new No. 1 team after a big road win from a top squad.

This week, a whopping 11 SEC squads find themselves ranked in the top 25, led by the Texas Longhorns. Texas has supplanted Georgia as the No. 1 team after going into Ann Arbor and handing Michigan a decisive loss.

Georgia has a win over Clemson on its résumé, but a Week 2 win over Tennessee Tech didn’t move the needle much for the Bulldogs, apparently. Here’s a look at the new ESPN FPI top 25 as we prepare for Week 3:

  1. Texas
  2. Georgia
  3. Alabama
  4. Ohio State
  5. Tennessee
  6. Ole Miss
  7. Penn State
  8. USC
  9. Mizzou
  10. Notre Dame
  11. Louisville
  12. Miami
  13. Oregon
  14. Clemson
  15. Oklahoma
  16. UCF
  17. Michigan
  18. Kansas State
  19. Texas A&M
  20. LSU
  21. Utah
  22. Washington
  23. Arkansas
  24. Boston College
  25. Auburn

Georgia visits Kentucky this coming weekend, while Texas hosts UTSA in Austin. We’ll see if the FPI rankings favor the Bulldogs again this time next week or if the Longhorns hold on to the top spot.

Many experts predicted Texas and Georgia to meet in the SEC Championship Game this season, so it’s not exactly surprising to see them battling for FPI supremacy, too.
