ESPN FPI Rankings after Week 3: Georgia plummets after narrow win at Kentucky

ESPN FPI rankings have been updated following Week 3. After Week 2, Texas leapfrogged Georgia for the No. 1 spot due to a convincing road victory against Michigan.
Now, following Georgia’s lackluster 13-12 win over unranked Kentucky on the road in Week 3, the Bulldogs have fallen significantly.
Georgia is now No. 5 in the latest ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) rankings. Here’s a look at how the top 25 shakes out as we prepare for Week 4 in the college football world:
- Texas
- Alabama
- Ohio State
- Tennessee
- Georgia
- Ole Miss
- Notre Dame
- Miami
- Penn State
- Mizzou
- Oregon
- USC
- Louisville
- Oklahoma
- Texas A&M
- Clemson
- Kansas State
- UCF
- Indiana
- Oklahoma State
- Michigan
- LSU
- Boston College
- Utah
- Nebraska
For those keeping a tally at home, that’s a total of 9 SEC teams in the top 25, including 4 of the top 5 and 6 of the top 10. The Big Ten placed 7 teams in the top 25 of the latest FPI rankings.
Georgia is off this coming week. We’ll see if that’s enough to knock the Dawgs out of the top 5 all together. Meanwhile, Texas’s ascension continues. The Longhorns held on to the top spot despite losing QB Quinn Ewers, as backup Arch Manning looked incredible when he came on in relief.
Alabama is the new No. 2 team after going to Wisconsin and scoring a 42-10 victory over the Badgers.
