ESPN’s FPI rankings have been updated after a massively important Week 7 slate around the college football world. We saw No. 1 Texas blow out rival Oklahoma. We saw No. 3 Oregon escape with a narrow win over No. 2 Ohio State. We saw Georgia and Tennessee struggle to take down inferior opponents and much more.

The ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) had most of the top teams stay the same. Ohio State remained at No. 2 despite the loss and Ole Miss stayed at No. 5 despite falling on the road at LSU.

Here’s a look at how the FPI top 25 shook out following the Week 7 slate:

  1. Texas
  2. Ohio State
  3. Alabama
  4. Georgia
  5. Ole Miss
  6. Notre Dame
  7. Tennessee
  8. Oregon
  9. Penn State
  10. Miami
  11. Clemson
  12. Texas A&M
  13. USC
  14. LSU
  15. Indiana
  16. Louisville
  17. Iowa State
  18. SMU
  19. Mizzou
  20. Oklahoma
  21. Kansas State
  22. Boise State
  23. Iowa
  24. Tulane
  25. Arkansas

That’s a total of 10 SEC teams in the top 25 of the FPI rankings. South Carolina (26), Florida (27), Kentucky (32), Auburn (34), Vanderbilt (35) and Mississippi State (59) were the only SEC squads not to make the cut.

What does Week 8 hold in store for us? With Georgia and Texas playing, there’s sure to be some shuffling in the FPI this time next week. Check back next Sunday to see where the top SEC teams end up!
