ESPN published a story this week calling out 1 strength and weakness for every team in its way-too-early top 25.
That, of course, includes LSU. Brian Kelly and Co. land at No. 8 in ESPN’s ranking. For LSU’s strength, ESPN’s Chris Low identified the quarterback position.
Garrett Nussmeier returns as LSU’s starting QB in 2025 after putting up solid numbers last season. Nussmeier threw for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns as year ago, but he’ll be looking for more consistency next season as he also led the SEC in interceptions (12) a year ago.
As for LSU’s weakness, here’s what Low wrote about the Tigers’ offensive line:
The Tigers lose four starting offensive linemen from a year ago, including projected first-round NFL draft pick Will Campbell at left tackle. Josh Thompson, a transfer from Northwestern, could play tackle or guard, and LSU likes its young talent up front. But there will be a lot of new faces in new places. Sophomore Weston Davis has a big opportunity to win the right tackle job after playing sparingly as a highly touted true freshman last season. The only returning starter, DJ Chester, is likely to move from center to guard.
Indeed, LSU has a lot to replace along the offensive line with Will Campbell set to be a first-round pick. The Tigers will be relying on a lot of internal growth to replace 4 starters on their offensive line this season.
LSU’s win total for the 2025 season currently sits at 8.5, per the latest odds from bet365. If you’re interested in betting on LSU this offseason, here’s a bet365 Louisiana bonus code to help you get started with a generous welcome offer when you sign up.
LSU fans will have the opportunity to get a glimpse of the offensive line’s progress during an open practice on April 12.
