With No. 2 LSU’s defeat of No. 3 Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, the picture in the SEC West became much more clear.
Moving to 9-0 with the victory, LSU built a 20-point halftime lead and was able to hold off junior tailback Najee Harris and the Crimson Tide late.
The Tigers’ own junior running back, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, had the most impactful game of his time in Baton Rouge. Totaling 29 touches, Edwards-Helaire racked up 180 yards and a career-high four touchdowns.
Now that this much-anticipated showdown is behind us, ESPN updated their College Football Playoff predictor to reflect how the nation’s top teams currently stand.
Seth Walder, a sports analytics writer for the company, shared the latest on Twitter:

Fresh off a 73-14 rout of the Maryland Terrapins, the Ohio State Buckeyes have the best odds to make the CFP at 89%. Penn State – the only other B1G team to appear on the list – saw their odds drop to 11% after they fell to the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday.
Having cleared the hurdle that Alabama represents, LSU has the second-best odds at 87%. While the home loss was obviously disappointing for the Crimson Tide, Nick Saban’s program is still in ESPN’s top-four at 41%.
Representing the Atlantic Coast Conference, the 10-0 Clemson Tigers are in the No. 3 spot at 82%.
