ESPN’s David Pollack still believes Georgia’s defense has something to prove

Georgia’s defense has been dominant through the first 4 games of the season. The Bulldogs have relied on the unit to get off to a 4-0 start, as they’ve allowed only 23 total points during that stretch.

However, ESPN’s David Pollack believes this defense still has something to prove.

Pollack is currently in Athens with the College GameDay crew ahead of Georgia’s highly anticipated matchup against Arkansas on Saturday, and he discussed with the media on Friday the defensive battle that is likely to ensue.

“I think both defenses suck to play against,” said Pollack, who played at Georgia. “They won’t be fun to play against, but I think Arkansas’ defense is not quite as suffocating as Georgia’s. I was trying to figure out where I put Georgia’s defense. They’ve got to earn it throughout the season, because do we really think Clemson is a great win now?”

Pollack raises a fair point about Georgia’s victory over Clemson. Although the Bulldogs won, 10-3, the Tigers have gone on to have continued struggles. Clemson barely pulled out a 14-8 win against Georgia Tech on Sept. 18, then suffered a 27-21 loss to NC State in double overtime last Saturday.

The rest of Georgia’s victories have come against weak opponents — UAB, South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Now, the No. 2 Bulldogs are set to face the No. 8 Razorbacks, which will likely be their biggest test yet.

Georgia and Arkansas are set to kick off on Saturday at noon ET on ESPN.
