ESPN’s Football Power Index has released its game-by-game predictions for most of the games this season. That includes Georgia, still the betting favorite to win the title this fall in the latest national championship odds ahead of the regular season.
Kirby Smart’s squad has been a model of consistency under his watch, including back-to-back national championships across 2021 and 2022 before that came to an end last season. Now, the Bulldogs are trying to reclaim the seat at the head of the college football table in a landmark season for the ages.
According to the FPI, Georgia is the No. 1 team in the country entering the regular season with a 26.8 rating on the system. The Bulldogs are 1 of just 2 teams with a rating above 24 points, and that translates into favorable projections for the schedule ahead.
The FPI gives Georgia an overall projected record of 10.3-2.1 this season, even though the Bulldogs are favored in every game this season. Part of that relates to some tricky road games including trips to face Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss on the road, the toughest games of Georgia’s schedule.
ESPN’s FPI also gives Georgia the best chance to win the SEC at 32.8% ahead of Texas (24.2%) and Alabama (14.4%). Fans looking to get in on the action can head to Caesars to bet on the first SEC season with 16 teams.
