ESPN’s FPI is back with more predictions for the week ahead in Week 13.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will look to remain in contention for the College Football Playoff as they play an Army team that is putting together one of the best seasons in all of college football.
Notre Dame has the most shocking loss of the season when it lost to Northern Illinois in Week 2. However, the Fighting Irish have responded by winning their last 8 games in dominating fashion. Only 1 of those games have been by less than 8 points, and that was a 31-24 win against Louisville.
Both of these teams have a chance at making the CFP, but the loser would be hanging by a thread if they lose this game. ESPN’s FPI is giving the Fighting Irish almost an 87.6% chance to win this game, leaving the Black Knights as the underdogs with only a 12.4% chance of winning this game.
The rivals will collide in a 7 p.m. ET kickoff from Yankee Stadium with the game aired on Peacock.
The Fighting Irish were dominant in last week’s 35-14 win against Virginia. Riley Leonard threw for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns while running back Jeremiyah Love rushed for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns. The pass defense for Notre Dame was terrific against the Cavaliers, as they allowed only 172 yards and pulled down 3 interceptions.
Army was off last week, with the Black Knights defeating North Texas 2 weeks ago by a score of 14-3. Quarterback Bryson Daily has been great for Army by throwing for 644 yards and 7 touchdowns. However, he does most of his work on the ground, as he has 1,021 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.
Notre Dame looks to be in a good position if it can win its final 2 games against Army and USC. For Army, the Black Knights would still need help, but it would have a great chance to move up significantly in the CFP rankings.
