One of the biggest SEC football games in recent memory will take place on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, when 2nd-ranked Georgia visits No. 4 Alabama.
And, naturally, ESPN’s Football Power Index is weighing in with what it thinks will happen. ESPN’s FPI is giving the Crimson Tide a 65.8% chance to prevail in the titanic showdown. That means ESPN only thinks the Bulldogs have a 34.2% chance to win.
The SEC behemoths will collide in a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff from Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium with the college football world watching on ABC.
It will be the 1st big game that Alabama plays not under Nick Saban’s watch in a really long time, as 1st-year Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer gets thrown right into the fire in just his 4th game at Alabama.
Meanwhile, Georgia will be looking for a little revenge. Last season, Alabama upset Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, denying the Bulldogs a shot at winning 3 national titles in a row. Instead, the Crimson Tide went on to the College Football Playoff, and Georgia was left wondering what might have been.
Both teams come in with a 3-0 record. The only difference is that this will be Alabama’s SEC opener after the Crimson Tide disposed of Western Kentucky, South Florida and Wisconsin in their 1st 3 games of 2024. Georgia is 1-0 in the SEC after escaping with a 13-12 victory at Kentucky in Week 3.
