ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of every college football game of the season.
After another exciting weekend of games in Week 6, the predictions are now out for Week 7.
Included in the Week 7 predictions is the Florida-Tennessee matchup in Knoxville. The model sees Tennessee as extremely likely to win, giving the Volunteers an 87.0% chance to win. This means the Gators are getting just a 13% chance to pull off the upset.
The Gators have had a disappointing 2024 season, sitting at 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The Vols, meanwhile, will be looking to avenge an ugly Week 6 loss to Arkansas in what was their first defeat of the season.
In Week 6, the Gators had better luck than the Vols, picking up a quality win over UCF. The Gators held on for a 24-13 win to keep their chances of making a bowl game alive for now.
Tennessee and Florida have a long history. The teams have played each other 53 times, with the Gators getting 32 wins and the Vols getting 21. The Gators picked up the victory in Gainesville last season, but the Vols won the last time this game was played in Knoxville in 2022.
This is a game the Vols cannot afford to lose. The team still has games against Georgia, Alabama, and Kentucky on the schedule. Vanderbilt is also on the schedule, and Week 6 proved you cannot overlook the Commodores, either.
The Gators still have to play Kentucky, Georgia, Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss after this game.
The Vols and Gators will kick off from Neyland Stadium on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
