ESPN’s Football Power Index gave its prediction for this week’s SEC battle between LSU and Arkansas will play out.
The model is giving the Bayou Bengals a 54.4% chance to win in Fayetteville.
Brian Kelly’s Tigers have been the cardiac kids of this season, playing in several close games that have kept their fans on the edge of their seats. The opening game of the season saw Kelly & Co. fall to USC in a 27-20 thriller. Then, LSU opened SEC play by narrowly taking down South Carolina 36-33 before it cruised to wins over UCLA and South Alabama.
Fresh off a bye week, the Tigers needed overtime to take down then-No. 9 Ole Miss on Saturday night. Garrett Nussmeier and his team trailed for the entirety of the game up until the closing moments of regulation.
Meanwhile, Arkansas has experienced a similarly up-and-down campaign. The Razorbacks fell to Oklahoma State in a game they controlled for much of the way, but they rebounded to take down Auburn 24-14 on the road just 2 weeks later.
They then lost yet another heartbreaker to Texas A&M, something that seems like an annual Dallas tradition at this point. But Sam Pittman’s bunch again responded from a loss, this time by taking down then-No. 4 Tennessee in Fayetteville to push the team to 4-2 (2-1) heading into a bye week.
The Tigers and Razorbacks will kick off at 7:00 p.m. EST on ESPN.
