College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit unveiled his picks for the College Football Playoff on Tuesday.

Herbstsreit released his picks along with his list of annual Herbie awards, which run tonight on ESPN. It always a sign that college football is around the corner, and it’s a great way to kick off the season.

The popular analyst has Alabama, Ohio State, USC, and Florida State as his final four teams. His pick for national champion is Ohio State over Alabama in the CFP Championship Game. Despite the opening week game, Herbie, along with most of the country, likes Alabama and FSU to make it back in the playoff. Losing early certainly is a positive in this landscape.

Although Herbstreit played at OSU, he does a great job of staying neutral as an analyst.

As the two most talented teams in the country, OSU and the Tide would be an incredible game. Urban Meyer and Nick Saban are the top two coaches in college football, and it would certainly provide some intrigue and highlights.

It would be a rematch of the 2015 Sugar Bowl that saw the Buckeyes beat Alabama 42-35 in a CFP Semifinal.

Is Nick Saban capable of back-to-back losses in the national championship game? Herbstreit evidently thinks so. The beautiful thing is we’ll have to watch to find out.

In related news, Herbstreit also believes the SEC title game will feature Alabama over Florida in a rematch of last year’s contest, while most of the country predicts Georgia to win the East.

His sleeper pick for the SEC this season is Kentucky.
