Tennessee freshman tight end Ethan Wolf is questionable for Saturday’s game against No. 4 Oklahoma, according to head coach Butch Jones.

During his weekly press conference, Jones noted that Wolf suffered a bruised knee injury during the Vols’ 34-19 win over Arkansas State this past Saturday. Wolf left the game in the third quarter after recording 20 yards on five receptions.

“Ethan Wolf, right now he is questionable,” Jones said. “I think we have received right now, great news on both him and Von Pearson. Ethan Wolf had a bruised knee, so it will be how his body recovers with the rehab, I will know more a little bit later in the week his status for the game this week.”

Wolf shared his coach’s sentiments on the diagnosis, feeling relieved that it wasn’t as serious as once suspected. The tight end took to twitter hours before the official announcement was made:

Wolf became the first true freshman in Tennessee’s history to start a home openner at tight end against Utah State in Week 1. He currently has 46 yards on eight catches through his first two games.

Wolf rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports and ranked as the No. 13 tight end of the 2014 recruiting class. As a senior, Wolf hauled in 41 receptions for 475 yards with five touchdowns and was named Associated Press Second Team All-Ohio for the second consecutive year.
