Fans pay tribute to announcer Verne Lundquist during first SEC on CBS game without him
Brad Nessler’s first call with the ‘SEC on CBS’ began Saturday in Fayetteville.
The former employee of ESPN started his 2017 season on CBS with TCU and Arkansas, former Southwest Conference rivals. He replaced longtime broadcaster Verne Lundquist in the booth, something not easy to do. As the broadcast began, Nessler echoed the admiration he had for the man that once held his position.

Nessler is a longtime talented professional who excels in big games. He and Danielson have been paired before, so their chemistry is there. Lundquist still does other sports for CBS, but no longer does the signature Saturday game.
Still, some fans miss the old-timer that hit their TV screens on Saturday afternoons in the fall for so many years. Lundquist built relationships with many southern football watching households over the years. Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter:

Listening to TCU-ARK… Brad Nessler is great, but it’s going to take some time to get used to not hearing Verne Lundquist on this CBS game
