Former Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo left Athens following the 2014 season, replacing coach Jim McElwain at Colorado State.

One year later, quarterback Faton Bauta is following him to Fort Collins, Colo.

Bauta, lodged in a quarterback competition with Bryce Ramsey and Virginia transfer Greyson Lambert prior to the season, didn’t win the job.

But coach Mark Richt thrust him into the starting role suddenly — against eventual East Division champion Florida in a 27-3 loss. The Bulldogs curiously ran the same conservative pro-style offense with Bauta at quarterback, though his strength is as a runner.

Bauta revealed two weeks ago that he intended to transfer from UGA. In his stead comes true freshman quarterback Jacob Eason, who announced his final college decision this week and is expected to enroll early.

Bobo recruited Bauta as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at Georgia, so the two are familiar with each other.
