Bowling Green head coach Scot Loeffler is leaving his role as head coach for a job with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The program announced that news on Friday morning. Loeffler will be the Eagles’ next quarterbacks coach, meaning he’ll be working with Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts next season. He replaces Doug Nussmeier, who followed Kellen Moore to New Orleans to be the Saints’ offensive coordinator in 2025.
Loeffler did a good job as Bowling Green’s head coach. He brought the Falcons to 3 consecutive bowl games to close out his tenure, marking the first time the program accomplished that feat since Dave Clawson and Dino Babers led BG to 4 in a row from 2012-2015.
“In these last six seasons, Scot built a very successful program in a challenging climate in collegiate sports,” Bowling Green president for athletics strategy Derek van der Merwe said in a statement. “More importantly, he built this program while ensuring his team and coaches were truly committed to the values and mission that make this university great. Like other great coaches in the history of BGSU football, he has demonstrated that when you build around the strengths of this University and its mission, anything is possible. I am looking forward to this process of finding the next great leader for our program who embraces what it means to be a Falcon.”
Bowling Green is expected to conduct a national search to find Loeffler’s replacement. That could impact a number of other top programs if Bowling Green decides to target a position coach or coordinator for the role.
Loeffler is a Michigan alum who previously coached at Florida, Auburn, Virginia Tech and Boston College, amongst others.
