The coaching carousel is in full swing, particularly in the AAC. On Sunday morning, it was reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel that a 6th job opening was coming to the conference.
Charlotte, East Carolina, FAU, Rice and Temple have all already fired their head coaches this season, and now we can add Tulsa to the list of vacancies, it seems.
Per Thamel, Kevin Wilson is expected to be fired on Sunday following a 63-30 loss to USF on Saturday, which brought the Golden Hurricane record to 3-8 on the season.
Sources: Tulsa is expected to fire coach Kevin Wilson this morning, as he's 7-16 in two seasons at the school. Tulsa fell to 1-6 in the AAC on Saturday and 3-8 overall in 2024 with a 63-30 loss at South Florida on Saturday. This marks the 6th AAC job to open in this cycle. pic.twitter.com/JxK6mDiqbq

Wilson was the head coach at Indiana from 2011 to 2016 before he was let go from that job for posting a 26-47 overall record. He then worked under Ryan Day as the Buckeyes’ offensive coordinator from 2017 to 2022 before landing the Tulsa job.
We’ll see which direction the Golden Hurricane want to go next, but it appears things are about to heat up in the AAC when it comes to the coaching carousel.
