Feleipe Franks not focused on quarterback competition, says he doesn’t care if he wins job

Much of the talk surrounding Florida during fall camp has been about the ongoing quarterback competition. Who will be the starter when the Gators open the season on Sept. 1?
One person not focusing on that is one who could be the answer to that question. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Feleipe Franks told the media on Tuesday, including Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times, that he doesn’t care if he wins the starting job and that he hasn’t thought about it.
Franks added that he only cares about the team winning this season.
“I don’t know who [coach Dan Mullen] is going to name,” Franks told the media. “It’s not that big of a deal right now.”

Franks has the most experience of the three quarterbacks competing for the starting job. He is battling with fellow redshirt sophomore Kyle Trask and true freshman Emory Jones.
Last season, Franks played in all 11 games for Florida, making eight starts and passing for 1,438 yards and nine touchdowns. However, Franks said on Tuesday that he feels has improved since then, learning how to be a “game manager” and a more “well-rounded quarterback.”
The Gators open the season against Charleston Southern on Sept. 1.
