The Texas A&M Aggies may already have a commitment from 2017 five-star quarterback prospect Tate Martell (Although his commitment appears to be wavering at the moment) but that hasn’t stopped the Aggies from recently offering California quarterback prospect Jack Sears, according to 247Sports.
The recruitment of the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Sears has picked up drastically in recent months. Rated as a two-star prospect not long ago, an offer from Tennessee has helped elevate the San Clemente, California prospect in the recruiting world and he is now ranked as a four-star prospect.
More than just a prospect with arm talent, Sears recently scored well in overall athleticism at Los Angeles’ Nike Opening event. In fact, Sears registered the highest Nike+ Rating for any quarterback present at the historically talent-rich Southern California event.

Sears isn’t just turning heads in the SEC either, as UCLA, Washington and Colorado have all recently extended scholarship offers to the 2017 recruit.
You may be wondering why A&M would offer another quarterback with Martell already committed, but after the transfers of sophomore Kyle Allen and freshman Kyler Murray this offseason, the Aggies are still dangerously thin at the most important position on the field. Of all the quarterbacks currently on the A&M roster, only three are scheduled to return for 2017.
While Texas A&M recently named graduate transfer Trevor Knight as the team’s starter for the 2016 opener, he’ll exhaust his eligibility by season’s end. Knight’s backup, junior Jake Hubenak, has yet to establish myself at A&M but did throw for 307 yards and 2 touchdowns against Louisville in the latest bowl game.
Adding two quarterbacks next offseason would appear to be a given for A&M. Now the only question is which two quarterbacks will it be?
