Florida AD Scott Stricklin updates Week 2 game details following kickoff change
The Florida Gators first home game of the 2017 season has been changed because of Hurricane Irma.
Originally, the game was scheduled for Saturday night at 7:30 ET, but now the game has been moved to noon ET. Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin met with members of the media on Wednesday to discuss the impact the storm will have on the Gators upcoming matchup against Northern Colorado.
Florida also sent out a full release from Strickland on the matter. He and the rest of the Florida administrators have the priority of the fans’ safety in mind. Here is what he said about fans coming to the game:
“With tropical conditions possibly expected in our region on Saturday night or Sunday morning, moving the game from 7:30 to noon will give people a chance to come to the game and return home before any expected weather or effects hit our area,” Stricklin said. “We will obviously continue to monitor the weather and we ask fans to consider their own safety and the safety of others before traveling to the game.”
Things could change between now and then. For safety reasons, Florida will not allow overnight parking after the game. Additionally, other Gators’ sports teams have had shifts in their gametime schedules, including cross country and soccer.
Florida vs. Northern Colorado can be streamed on SEC Network Plus and the ESPN App.
