The Florida Gators did not disappoint in the season opener with a 29-26 win over the No. 7-ranked Utah Utes. And there were plenty of eyes on it, as Florida set a new attendance record with 90,799 fans in the stands, the largest opening crowd in school history.
One of the biggest stars of the show Saturday night in Gainesville was highly touted quarterback Anthony Richardson, who made an impact both through the air and on the ground, only building upon the success he showed over last season’s small sample size.
Richardson completed 17-of-24 passes for 168 yards, adding 106 yards and three scores on the ground to finish the game as the team’s leading rusher. Next up, Florida will look to stay undefeated at home as it faces No. 20-ranked Kentucky.
That’s a game that’s sure to be packed as well with quality SEC competition and a Florida team that has already exceeded expectations out of the gate.
