Florida drops highlight-filled hype video for rivalry clash with Florida State

Florida football’s social media engine released a 1-minute, 20-second reminder to its loyal fans on Wednesday afternoon that there’s a little game that’s coming up on Saturday night in enemy territory.
The site will be Tallahassee — because it is an even-numbered year after all — where the Gators hope to keep their sudden momentum going to end the regular season and get to 7 victories for the first time in Billy Napier’s 3 seasons in Gainesville. Florida State will be waiting, and even though it’s been a nightmare season for the 2-9 Seminoles, it’s Florida-Florida State, so records really don’t matter.
All that matters is that the Saturday after Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and that was the point of UF’s social media releasing the hype video that chronicles some of the best moments from the Sunshine State’s iconic rivalry.

The video begins by showing some of the moments when the Gators and Seminoles engaged in some fisticuffs apart from the actual football. Yeah, it’s that heated of a rivalry, and the video post was attached with the following 4 words: “Not just another game.”
Because it never is, no matter what kind of season either team is having. It just so happens in 2024, Florida started really slowly and has gained traction throughout the fall. Meanwhile, Florida State began the season ranked, which is hard to believe now, before a season-opening loss to Georgia Tech in Ireland sent the Seminoles spiraling downward to the 2-9 record they sport going into Saturday night’s game.
UF and FSU will kick things off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2 in the 68th installment of the rivalry.
