Florida is on the right track at the tail end of the season after a start that many believed would result in head coach Billy Napier’s firing. But the Gators just keep winning, and not only on Saturdays.
No, this time around Florida did its work off the field on the recruiting trail. The Gators’ most recent victory there, in addition to getting a 24-17 upset win over Ole Miss, was flipping 4-star LB Ty Jackson from USC to Florida. This marks another major loss for USC, which also saw standout Carrollton High School quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis pledge to Colorado after opening his recruitment up from USC.
Jackson had originally committed to USC back on Sept. 9, but he did turn some heads when he made his way to The Swamp on Saturday as the Gators took on a formerly No. 9-ranked Rebels team. And they put on a convincing show to get him to leave behind a struggling to USC team that suffered yet another loss on Saturday night.
Jackson, according to the 247 Sports Composite database, is the No. 13 linebacker in his class, the No. 20 overall prospect in the state of Florida and the No. 124 overall prospect.

It will be interesting to watch how Florida builds upon this as the Gators look to be heading into a much more positive era.
