Florida announces plans for $15 million indoor practice facility

It’s officially official: The Florida Gators announced plans to build an indoor practice facility.
Plans are in place to start construction on the estimated $15 million facility this week to be ready for use in early September. Every SEC team either has an indoor practice facility or has plans to build one, and teams around the Southeast were using the lack of facilities to negatively recruit against the Gators.
“This is something we have talked about internally for some time,” said Florida Athletics Director Jeremy Foley in a university release. “We have always been able to utilize the O’Connell Center as an indoor option for the football team, but with the renovation starting this spring, it will no longer be available.”
Per the release, the facility will include 120-yard turf field, with additional room for drills on the north end of the field, satellite training room facilities, restrooms and equipment storage.
The project will be funded through private gifts and capital financing.
