Florida landed a transfer commitment at a position of need on Saturday.
Baylor transfer DL Brendan Bett has committed to continue his career playing for Billy Napier at Florida. He announced the big news via social media.
Bett heads to Florida after 2 seasons at Baylor. In 2024, Bett made just 1 appearance, in the Texas Bowl against LSU, allowing him to use a redshirt for the season. He has 3 full seasons of eligibility remaining.
In 2023, Bett had a solid debut season. He played in 10 games, earning a start against Houston. Bett graded out as the fourth-highest rated interior freshman defensive lineman in 2023, per PFF. He finished the season with 9 tackles, including 1 sack for 11 yards, and 2 pass breakups.
Bett has some familiarity with the Gator coaching staff. Florida defensive coordinator Ron Roberts coached at Baylor from 2020-22. Roberts was involved in recruiting Bett to Baylor. UF defensive line coach Gerald Chatman also knows Bett as a prospect from his time on staff at Colorado.
The addition of Bett helps with depth on the defensive line. In the final days of the spring transfer portal window, Florda saw D’Antre Robinson enter his name after an impressive debut season in 2024. Robinson announced his commitment to North Carolina on Saturday.
