Former Florida linebacker Jeremi Powell, who announced he’d be leaving the football program back in early January, has decided on a landing spot for his final year of NCAA eligibility.

He’s headed to Toledo.

“We look forward to both of these young men joining the Rocket family,” said first-year Toledo coach Jason Candle, who is also welcoming Miami transfer Earl Moore. “They will add experience and depth to our defense next fall.”

Powell, a 4-star recruit from the 2012 class, started two games for the Gators last season. He played in 25 games during his time in Gainesville, recording 20 tackles during that time.

Due to graduate transfer rules, he will be able to compete for a starting position right away upon arrival.
