Florida defensive lineman Alex McCalister suffered a leg injury in the first quarter of the Gators’ game against South Carolina, and will miss the rest of the game.
McCalister was taken to the locker room for evaluation and later returned to the field on crutches and wearing a protective boot. He was in street clothes.

McCalister was the SEC Defensive Player of the Week last week after collecting 2.5 sacks in the Gators’ 9-7 win over Vanderbilt.
CeCe Jefferson took McAlister’s spot on the line.
Florida is already thin on its defensive line. Jonathan Bullard was questionable for Saturday’s game with an arm injury, but is playing. Joey Ivie missed the game with a leg injury. Defensive end Jordan Sherrit is sitting out the first half after collecting a targeting penalty last week.
