The Florida men’s basketball team got a big boost to its 2022 recruiting class on Tuesday.
Jalen Reed, a 4-star power forward out of Southern California Academy, announced on Twitter that he had committed to the Gators. He had been deciding from a final 5 that also included Arizona State, Maryland, Oklahoma and Ole Miss.
However, Reed opted to become the third player in Florida’s 2022 class, joining 5-star power forward Malik Reneau and 3-star guard Denzel Aberdeen.

Reed is the No. 93 overall recruit in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 18 power forward and the No. 8 recruit from California.
It wasn’t a surprise that Ole Miss had been included in Reed’s top 5. His father, Justin, played for the Rebels from 2000-04 and was a first-team All-SEC selection during his senior season.
But the younger Reed will be playing for a different SEC program when he joins Mike White’s program at Florida.
