Florida OLB, former 4-star recruit, entering transfer portal after 2 seasons

The big news out of Gainesville on Monday has been the decision of Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson to forgo his remaining eligibility to pursue a professional career.

On Monday afternoon, another Gators player announced that he was leaving the program.

Reserve linebacker Chief Borders is headed to the NCAA transfer portal. He made the announcement via Twitter.

The 6-4, 241-pound Borders was a redshirt freshman this season.

He appears in all 12 of Florida’s games, playing predominantly on special teams.

Borders was rated by the 247Sports composite as a 4-star prospect and the 37th-best linebacker in the nation in the 2021 recruiting class.

In addition to the Gators, Borders also had  scholarship offers from Arkansas, Georgia, Auburn, and Florida State, among several others.
