Del Rio experienced a knee injury during the Gators’ 32-0 win over North Texas in Week 3 and has missed each of the team’s last two games. The redshirt sophomore started in Florida’s first three games prior to the injury and threw for 762 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions on 62 of 101 passing.
On Monday, head coach Jim McElwain said he was prepared to play Del Rio in Florida’s scheduled game against LSU, which was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew and that he will be the starter moving forward.
