Luke Del Rio has made a lot of stops — including Alabama, Oregon State and Florida — during his football career, but his life as a college quarterback seems to be coming to an end.
The redshirt senior has decided to end his collegiate playing career, he announced Wednesday. The QB will take part in Senior Day festivities this weekend in Gainesville for the Florida State game.
On Wednesday, the journeyman tweeted this out to his followers:
Yes, I will be participating in Senior Day on Saturday. I am a redshirt senior but have a 6th year of eligibility which I am choosing to not use. Have enjoyed my unique college career and am excited for what’s next #GoGators #BeatEveryone

After arriving at Florida prior to the 2015 season, Del Rio sat out a year before earning the starting quarterback job the following season in fall camp. He was only able to play in six games due to multiple injuries, however, and 2017 proved to be more of the same.
Del Rio earned the starting job for the Kentucky game back in Week 4, but a broken collarbone ended his season for the second-consecutive year just a week later against Vanderbilt.
In his two seasons at Florida, Del Rio went 6-1 as the starter and threw for 1,496 yards. He was also responsible for nine touchdowns and nine interceptions.
