Florida State receiver reportedly arrested, dismissed from team
Florida State wide receiver Jalen Brown was arrested early Saturday morning on a third-degree felony charge for possession of a controlled substance, according to multiple reports.
Noles247 reported Saturday morning that Brown had been dismissed from the team by Saturday afternoon. The third-year wideout will enter the transfer portal. According to The Osceola’s Curt Weiler, Brown was released on $2,500 bond. Florida State confirmed his dismissal but did not provide a comment to either Noles247 or The Osceola about the reason for his dismissal.
Brown was a 4-star recruit out of Miami in the 2023 class. He initially signed with LSU and spent a redshirt season with the Tigers in 2023. In January 2024, Brown transferred to FSU.
In his lone season with the Seminoles, Brown made 9 appearances and 2 starts. He caught eight passes for 75 yards.
Brown was pushing for a spot in a rebuilt FSU receiver rotation this spring, but now he’ll look elsewhere. He’s the second FSU receiver to hit the portal this week, following former 5-star recruit Hykeem Williams. Overall, FSU has seen 7 receivers enter the transfer portal since the end of the 2024 season.
Florida State has added Tennessee transfer Squirrel White and USC transfer Duce Robinson from the transfer portal so far this offseason. Coach Mike Norvell also signed 4-star wideout Jayvan Boggs and 3-star receiver Teriq Mallory.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
