Former Alabama defensive back Malachi Moore declared for the 2025 NFL Draft earlier this month.
Moore spent 5 seasons at Alabama, collecting 214 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and 7 interceptions in 64 games with the team. The talented DB was expected to participate in the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, but Moore withdrew from the game on Monday.
No reason was given for Moore’s withdrawal, but he missed Alabama’s ReliaQuest Bowl after undergoing surgery for an undisclosed injury. It’s likely that Moore is not yet at 100% and did not want to risk further injury ahead of the draft process.
With Moore no longer playing, the Crimson Tide will have 4 players in the game. Defensive lineman Tim Smith, punter James Burnip, quarterback Jalen Milroe, and tight end C.J. Dippre have all accepted invites.
Moore had his best collegiate season in 2024. The veteran racked up 70 tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 sack, and 2 INTs. Alabama’s defense as a whole wasn’t as strong in 2024 as in years past, but Moore was a reliable contributor all season long. Now, the DB will look to find his place in the NFL, with most draft analysts expecting Moore to be a mid-round selection.
The 2025 Senior Bowl is set to kick off from Mobile on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET. This game annually showcases some of the top prospects for the draft, with 110 players from the 2024 game going on to be selected.
