Former Alabama DB Anthony Averett has been placed on injured reserve, the Las Vegas Raiders announced Monday. Averett suffered a broken right thumb Sunday.
The fifth-year player is having surgery and is likely going to miss up to a month. He will be eligible to return to the active roster in 4 weeks, as teams may designate 8 players to return from injured reserve this season.
Averett has dealt with injuries for the past few seasons. In 2020, he was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Last season, he suffered a broken rib after taking a hit against the Bengals.
Averett signed with the Raiders over the offseason.
